Progress Report (Log 6)

So far from the initial research I have done, there are a few ideas I would like to use in my own production that I found interesting and effective when I was researching magazines and similar products from a readers/audiences perspective.

These ideas include a strong brand identity that will be easy to remember and recognise by the audience, by having a strong font for the masthead, and colour scheme/house style that will be stuck to throughout the pages of the magazine and the other products. The main image on the cover will also connote a strong, masculine impression on the target audience, to best display the player as a role model, as this would adhere to the stereotypes of a typical male, to best relate to the main target audience. An effective use of typography I will also consider carefully, as this aspect is most important when attracting the audience to content/information in the magazine. Techniques I will use to make the content stand out include highlighting, underlining, and the use of bold fonts, bright colours and more.

When nearing the start of my production, and also during my making of the products I may change and develop some aspects I just mentioned, which will be for the purpose of continuously wanting to improve on my own ideas, to make a better quality production.

When researching and considering billboard ideas I found this simple example of how FourFourTwo presented their magazine, which looks simple and professional, giving me the idea to include on my own billboard, as a way to advertise the website/app of the magazine that will be accessible on most devices, therefore creating an ease for the audience to read the magazine in their own way.

Log 4

After the ancillary textual analysis, I gathered a few ideas to use in my ancillarys. Firstly, I will use the same colour scheme and fonts throughout the three products, for the purpose of strengthening the brand identity, with a specific house style that is stuck to. The main idea I gathered was to make important text and content stand out through bold/underlined/larger/coloured text, so the audience will be best informed of what is included on the website and billboard.
